Helper accidentally shot dead at banquet hall

A 24-year-old man died after being shot at accidentally by his colleague at a banquet hall near northwest Delhi’s Gujranwala Town area in GT Karnal Road on the wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Kailash, and the accused, identified as Ram Dayal, worked as helpers at the Rajwada Palace banquet hall and they were allegedly playing with the security guard’s gun, poking each other with the barrel, when a shot was accidentally fired at around 3 am and Kailash was shot, said a police official. It was Jeetendra, who called up the head of security arrangements and informed about the incident before he allegedly fled the scene. The security officials then informed the police and Kailash <g data-gr-id="19">was</g> rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The police registered a case and Ram Dayal was arrested. However, Jeetendra is still at large.

The manager of the banquet hall, Sanjay, later told the police that Jeetendra is a resident of <g data-gr-id="16">Etah</g> in UP. The details of Jeetendra’s gun license are also yet to be verified once he is tracked, said the official. A team of forensic experts and Crime Branch officials visited the spot.
