A 50-year-old Head Constable posted at the Sarai Rohilla police station in North District allegedly molested a 35-year-old woman near her house in North Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla area. On Saturday, senior police officers of the North district confirmed that the Head constable Raj Kumar has been placed under suspension and a probe into the matter has been initiated.
Sources said that on Thursday, two women living in Sarai Rohilla got into a heated argument which turned into a scuffle. Regarding which, a case under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Sarai Rohilla police station and HC Raj Kumar was made the Investigating Officer in the case.
“The woman (the complainant) had problems with the investigation. To frame the Head Constable, the complainant’s husband made a PCR call on Thursday saying that Raj Kumar had allegedly touched his wife inappropriately and allegedly molested her,” said a senior police officer, privy to the investigation.
Based on the statement of the woman, local police registered a case of molestation against Raj Kumar under appropriate sections of the IPC at the Sarai Rohilla police station. A senior officer said that departmental inquiry has been initiated in the matter. Further investigation is underway.
