Observing that corruption poses a threat to every democratic institution, Jammu and Kashmir High Court has sought a time frame from the state government in making the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) functional.
The state chief secretary should indicate in his compliance report as to how much period the government would require for making the SVC functional, a division bench of the high court comprising justices Virender Singh and Muzaffar Hussain Attar said in an order passed on Wednesday.
The direction followed perusal of previous compliance report filed by the chief secretary informing the court that the government has enacted J&K SVC Act and a three-member Vigilance Commission has to be set up.
