Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking direction to the government to remove mobile towers installed in a village here on health grounds.

“The writ petition is dismissed,” a Bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath said. The public interest litigation (PIL), filed by one Kapil Choudhary, had claimed that there were over 20 mobile towers installed in 700-year-old Tehkhand village in Okhla industrial area here and they were creating health hazards for the villagers.

“As per the policy of the government, no mobile tower can be installed in residential areas,” the petition had claimed. He had alleged that due to the radiation discharge from these mobile phone towers, people were facing health problems and two of them had died due to cancer.
