Gzb SSP’s nieces die in Yamuna E-way accident

Yamuna Expressway, infamous for road accidents, on Monday witnessed fatal accident causing the death of two teenage nieces of Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and severe injuries to five others. Police said the high-speed SUV, in which they were travelling, turned turtle after its rear tyre burst and collided with the divider. The relatives of the SP were heading to Shikohabad via Agra on the Yamuna Expressway from Ghaziabad.

The incident took place at around 30 km away from Mathura city in Mahavan area at milestone number 123 of the Expressway. 

“At around 12 noon, a high-speed SUV had a head on collision with the divider after its tyre suddenly burst. Since the incident was near to toll plaza, a quick rescue operation was conducted, saving most of the passengers’ lives,” said a police official.

The police official said that the nieces of Dharmendra Singh, Ghaziabad SSP were dead and five others were injured. Identified as Anu (18) and Trisha (19), the victims were found dead at the accident spot. 

The injured persons identified as Yuvkirti Yadav (11), Tanvi (15), Sarita (40), a gunner Bipin Dubey and a driver whose name is yet to be ascertained were taken to private hospital close to spot. All the victims were in an unconscious state.
