Gupta takes over as IGL Chairman

K K Gupta, Director (Marketing) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Navratna oil marketing company (OMC) and Fortune 500 oil major, has also taken over as chairman of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) in place of S Venkatraman, Director (Business Development) of GAIL (India) Ltd.

 IGL, a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd. and BPCL along with the Government of NCT Delhi, is the sole supplier of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.  IGL has already embarked on a massive expansion programme in NCT of Delhi as well as NCR. There has been a major increase in demand due to all round conversion of vehicles to CNG and increased acceptability of PNG as a domestic fuel.  IGL is currently on a fast track expansion of its infrastructure and 277 CNG stations are currently in operation in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. IGL is supplying PNG to over 3,70,000 households in Delhi and NCR towns.

 The role of IGL in checking the vehicular pollution in Delhi is well acknowledged both at national as well as international forums. IGL has well laid out its city gas distribution infrastructure in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad which consists of over 7,800 km of pipeline network.

IGL is meeting fuel requirements of over 6 lakh vehicles running on CNG in NCR.
