Patients at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital are having a tough time as the urology department is not giving the correct reports for the urine multistick test.

According to sources, ‘During the process urine multistick test helps in diagnosis of infection in renal area, but it has been reported that in many of the cases  in GTB hospital, the stick is not matching the colours of the bottles of the machine.

Because of this the patients are forced to go to private labs which cost them Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500.

Reechpaal Yadav, a daily wage labourer who is seeking treatment at GTB hospital, said, ‘I don’t have enough money to afford such a medical tests from private pathology labs. But the doctors here tell us to avail the service from outside.’

Ravi, who has diabetics complained that he was taking medicines on the bases of the reports produced by the GTB hospital, which caused him more discomfort. Later, after he was tested in a private lab, he found out that he had been administered wrong treatment on the bases of the check ups run by the machine in the hospital.

When contacted, the urology  department head, Dr B K Jain, simply refuted that he is not the right person to be consulted on this matter.
