Groovy in the city, metal style

Update: 2013-01-22 22:34 GMT
They started like any other band in the country. Getting together, jamming, singing in college fests and then covers in venues across the Capital. Catch Silent Existence as they dream bigger and get in the process of cutting an album. Here are excerpts:

Where does the name of your band come from?

The name comes from within. Well, we are all just silently existing, aren’t we?”

Tell us about how you guys started off...

Just started off in college just like any other band here in India, covering music from international artists like Korn, Limp Bizkit, RATM, Deftones, Linkin Park etc. and then over the years stopped playing covers and made our kind of music which is a blend of new metal and groove metal.

What is your original brand of music? Do you guys have a signature sound?

Originally, we’re a Nu metal band. Groovy new metal would be our signature sound.

Tell us about the initial years after kick-off till how it has been thus far

Initially it was just covering songs and playing at college festivals, but now all we are interested is in playing good proper shows..since college festivals are organized by students who don’t give much importance to bands new/old…and are not capable of hosting good college festivals..been there done that..not anymore...all we are concentrating now is on playing good shows with good venues, sound and above all good people who understand, critic, reciprocate, appreciate music.

What are you expecting out of Metal Battle I?

A big shout out to the guys from Backflip, Anika Mehta specially to be giving a heads-up to Delhiites about heavy metal and sub genres of music and keeping the scene alive. This show is going to be really special since We would be joined by our ex –guitarist and founding member (chino) on guitars and we would also have Manish Kestwal (Nigambodh) on guest vocals…we don’t do much of planning really..we just do what we do best and that is play with a lot of energy.”

What plans for 2013?

Launch the album which has been a long time coming and write new stuff and get the new stuff on a tape ASAP.
