In a bid to counter the attacks of Aam Aadami Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the city Congress government is all set to flaunt its ‘achievements’ made during the past 15 years of its tenure in the national capital.
Sources close to the chief minister said that officials have been pressed into service to publish the data as soon as possible.
‘The concerned department officials are working day and night and gathering every possible data to publish a booklet showing the excellent work of the city government in the last 15 years. Chief minister Sheila Dikshit had emphasised on publishing the data by Independence Day. However, she had said that if the data is not ready by then, it should be published any time before implementation of the code of conduct for the upcoming assembly polls,’ said a senior Delhi government officer.
Sources say the chief minister also wants to counter the ‘Modi development model’ effectively with the ‘Sheila development model’. Dikshit also wants the data to be made public as the AAP and the BJP are taking on the government on different issues such as power, water and women’s security.
‘Delhi has been economically flourishing without any hike in its share from central government. It has the highest per capita income which is more than Rs 2 lakh,’ said a government official.
‘Delhi would certainly become better than the best cities in the world as the government has been bringing a sea-change in infrastructure and transport sector apart from ensuring all-round development,’ she said.
‘The booklet will have the major achievements of the Congress government and it will be compared to the works of other governments. Delhi Metro, roads and flyovers, schemes for people belonging to below poverty line, pensions for senior citizen, widows and eunuchs, e-SLA, subsidy on power and LPG and many other major achievements,’ the officer said.
When asked about the BJP and AAP’s attacks on power tariff hike, the official said that the government has brought down the outages in the city to almost zero and it will be highlighted as well.
