Govt to accept online visa applications from Pak Hindus

Update: 2015-04-23 00:46 GMT
As a first step to grant Indian citizenship to nearly 60,000 Hindu refugees from Pakistan, the government on Wednesday rolled out an online system for the submission of Long Term Visa (LTV) application and for its processing by various agencies.

At present, such applications are accepted manually. The government took this decision to address the difficulty being faced by Hindu minorities of Pakistan who come to India with the intention to settle down, official sources said.

Pakistani nationals eligible for LTV can now submit the applications by logging on to www.indianfrro.gov.in/frro. The new system will enable applicants to monitor their applications.

The manual system of the submission of LTV applications will continue, along with the online system, for three months. But from August 1, 2015, all applications for LTV will be received and processed only through the online medium.

All state governments and Union Territories have been advised to give wide publicity to the new system for the submission of LTV applications.
