Parliamentary secretary to Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit Mukesh Sharma on Thursday said that the city government has issued a notification for acquisition of land for construction of a 200-bed hospital at Peepal Chowk, Mohan Garden under the Uttam Nagar assembly segment.
‘This has paved the way for construction of government hospital at Mohan Garden and Nawada. It would also go a long way in fulfilling the 25 years dream. The hospital would cater services to around 10 lakh residents of unauthorised and regularised colonies in west Delhi including from assembly segments of Matiala, Najafgarh, Vikaspuri, Dwarka and Palam,’ Sharma said.
Sharma added that he has succeeded in maximum utilisation of gram sabha land for construction of six government schools and community halls. The utilisation of gram sabha land for the purpose of government hospital was the only alternate left with the government.
Dikshit had promised to construct a hospital at Mohan Garden in a rally on 3 March. The Uttam Nagar Assembly Segment would be the only segment in Delhi where two government hospitals would become functional.
Sharma added that the government and Delhi lieutenant governor have taken a bold decision in effecting the issuing of the notification as the Opposition BJP and its leaders were creating obstacles.
