Govt cancels registration of 20 fraud traders

The Delhi government has cancelled the registration certificates of around 20 fraud traders who have evaded value added tax (VAT) amounting to crores of rupees in the past one year.

The turnover of these companies was shown to be Rs 228.07 crore in 2013-14 but during physical verification by the authorities, these companies were found non-existent. Input Tax Credit of
Rs 1.38 crore was also disallowed during this week.

“Last week VAT inspectors visited various premises and numerous high risk dealers were found with bogus declared turnover of Rs 228.07 crore for the year 2013-14,” Commissioner (Trade & Tax) Sanjiv Khirwar said.

The commissioner has also directed to detect the chain of sale of such dealers and issued instruction to take strict action as per the provision of DVAT Act 2004.
