Delhi government has included over four lakh people in its food security scheme after a ground survey was conducted in the city. Now, the department has added an additional 4.15 lakhs people under the food security net. The department plans to add about 10 lakh persons every month till it reaches the target of 72.78 lakhs. Yadav informed that the department has received applications from 15 lakhs households under the Act and all the applications have been digitized. The department has deployed over 1,400 people for field verification. Field verification of 14 lakh families has been done. Test checking of these families and feeding of verification reports into computer systems are going on. The eligible households are entitled to receive food grains at highly subsidized rates of Rs. 2 per kg for wheat and Rs. 3 per kg for rice. Antodaya Ann Yojana families get 35 kg of food grains every month, while other households (‘Priority Households’) receive 5 kg food grains (4 kg wheat and 1 kg rice) per person every month.
