Aam Aadmi Party on Friday alleged that its office in Kirari had been attacked and vandalised by unknown assailants. The party also alleged that a volunteer had been injured in the attack.
A party statement said that the volunteer, Amit Kumar, who was present in the office at the time of the attack, was beaten up by the attackers, who pushed his head in a bucket filled with water. The statement said that the incident occurred early in the morning at 9 am and the injured volunteer has been admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi hospital for treatment.
‘Earlier, the two motorcycle-borne assailants had followed Amit Kumar while he was on his way to the party office and warned him of dire consequences if he opened the office on Friday. They tried to force him to not operate the office in that area.
When Amit ignored their threats and opened the office, one of the goons, who was wearing a helmet entered the premises. When the AAP volunteer tried to stop him, the second assailant also entered the office and bolted the door from inside. They started beating Amit and put his head in a bucket filled with water. They let go of Amit only when he started foaming at the mouth and eventually lost consciousness,’ the statement said.
‘We have filed an FIR against the incident, which was registered in the evening on Friday,’ said a AAP spokesperson.
