After a great celebration from arts from across the border Dastkar has now come up with an innovative Green Mela. In association with Delhi Tourism, the mela is all about a vibrant basket of hand-picked organic and eco-friendly products.
Small producers, craftspeople and environmental organizations come together to celebrate the ethos of a green and people-friendly world. In today's world it is vital to protect nature and preserve the environment as the planet hurtles towards an environmental disaster with natural calamities mounting.
Dastkar has always supported traditional craft skills and handmade products using locally available resources, thereby promoting sustainable development and environmental conservation and this initiative is no different. With the support of the Delhi government, the mela promises to open people up to a fresh green chapter in their lives.
At the Green Mela, experience the beauty of furniture, decorative items and gift items emerging from humble clay, plant fibers, cane and wood. Go green with organic cotton and wool weaves complemented by bags and accessories in banana, jute and khus. Treat your body with nourishing herbal scrubs, oils and soaps. Enjoy the rich tastes of organic honey, teas, pulses and preserves. Pottery, plants and flowers will also be available.
Through interactive demonstrations and workshops learn about greening small spaces as well as organic fertilizer and composting practices that help preserve the environment, the initiative aims to support the work of NGOs working with children and women, making recycled products in paper, fabric and leather.
