Goel stages march to CM’s residence, promises flats to JJ cluster, slum dwellers
Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel on Friday promised flats to JJ cluster dwellers in Delhi, inspired by the pattern being followed in Mumbai.
'The Sheila Dikshit government has ditched lakhs of J J cluster and slum dwellers, after making false promises of providing them flats under the Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojana. The BJP will provide flat to every resident of JJ clusters and slums, if voted to power,' said Vijay Goel addressing a gathering in Delhi.
Goel started a march towards the residence of the Chief Minister, with his supporters and residents of J J clusters, but was prevented by the police and arrested.
'Providing flats to poor can be achieved if the government has the will power, as has been done Mumbai,' contended Goel.
Addressing the protesters, Goel said that four lakh slum dwellers had filled forms under the Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojna paying Rs 100 each but not a single person got a flat under the scheme. ‘Similarly, this government had claimed that 44,720 flats will be built under JNNURM scheme but only 10,684 flats were actually built and barely 85 flats were allotted to beneficiaries.
The recent CAG reported has unearthed widespread irregularities and corruption in electricity, water, transport and health departments.
Water and power has become dearer under this government. Sheila Dikshit has lost the moral right to rule and she should resign from her post, owing responsibility for all this misgovernance,’ Goel said.
The activists broke the barricade and reached right in front of the Chief Minister’s residence. They later courted arrest and were taken to Tuglaq Road police station from where they were released.
