An eight-year-old girl was mysteriously shot at while she was going to attend a wedding ceremony with her parents at Jyoti Nagar, in north-east Delhi. Parents of the victim, Diksha, are clueless about how she suffered the gunshot wound.
Neeraj, her father, was going to attend a wedding ceremony on Wednesday night and stopped his car near a school to ask for directions. Meanwhile, his daughter cried out and he found that she was bleeding.
Neeraj told police that Diksha received the bullet in her left thigh while she was sitting inside the car with her mother, near a school in Jyoti Nagar area. According to the officials, neither the window of the car was broken nor the glass. ‘It remains a mystery as the girl was seated on the right side of the car, and her left thigh has been injured,’ said a police official.
Police said it was not possible to shoot the girl from long distance without hitting the car, because she was in the rear seat. They said it seemed that the girl received the bullet during celebratory firing at the wedding ceremony and her father was trying to concoct the story to avoid police investigation.
The victim has been sent to GTB Hospital, where her condition is stated to be out of danger. Police is investigating the matter. They said there was no house in the area, apart from the school from where the PCR call was made. ‘No one has been arrested as yet, and further investigations is in process,’ said a police official.
