Girl fails in chemistry exam, commits suicide

A 17-year-old girl ended her life after failing in her chemistry examination at her house in North Delhi’s Maurice Nagar area on Tuesday evening. The deceased, Reema Sood, a student of class XI wrote a two-page suicide note in which she had mentioned that after her death, she wants all her organs to be donated, said a senior police officer.

According to the police, on May 10, Reema had gone to school to receive her result. However, when she got to know that she failed in her chemistry examination, she was so depressed that when she came back home, she locked herself in her bathroom and ended her life. Survived by her parents and siblings, Reema’s father Rajesh works as a faculty in the Patel Chest Institute. Police said that they received a call on May 10 evening. On inspection, the cops found the two-page suicide note in which she wrote: “I failed to become a doctor but I want my organs to be donated.”

“To fulfill her last wish, her family members agreed and donated her eyes. Since her other organs could not be transplanted due to lapse of time, only her eyes were donated,” said a senior investigating official.
