Update: 2013-01-24 23:49 GMT
Showcasing some of the most avant garde New Age films made in the the last one year, the 0110 IDFF (International Digital Film Festival) is all set to hit the Capital from this weekend. The fifth edition of this festival will be held at India Habitat Centre.

The 0110 IDFF is founded by Madhureeta Anand with the objective of designing room for new films and setting up new vistas in the sphere of digital cinema. This year the festival has films from over 20 countries.

The fifth edition and the Delhi chapter this year will open with Keanu Reeves’ movie Side by Side. It will also be screening movies from Iran, Spain, Palestine, US, France and India. Movies like
Uzla Taht Al-Shams — Private Sun
(Palestine), Kharoch — Scratch (India), Efímera — Ephemeral (Spain), Boz Khar – The Goat (Iran), The Aerial Girl (US), Chroniques d’une cour de récré - Playground chronicles (France), Smrt coveka na Balkanu- Death of a man in Balkans (Serbia), L’âge adulte-Adulthood (France), Violeta, la Cortesana-Violet, The Courtesan (Spain), Abu Rami (Lebanon) are a part of the festival’s repertoire and the much awaited Tasher Desh by Qaushiq Mukherjee (Q) will have its Asia premiere at the festival.

The advisory panel of IDDF this year includes the likes of Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap, Q, Roysten Abel and renowned Hollywood producer Jason Kilot. Kabir Khan and Sudhir Mishra are a part of the jury which has expanded to include Kashyap, Rajan Khosa and Tabu.

In Ephemeral, Alicia dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. In the cozy windmill where she lives with her grandmother, she waits for the moment to go to the long-awaited audition. But out there, the world is not as idyllic as she thinks.

Q’s Tasher Desh is an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s dance drama (though Q has described his film as ‘Tagore on an acid trip’) which does tend to mean that from a starting point, the dramatic thrust of the film was broad and based on themes and ideas rather than dialogue. A prostitute is working at night in her usual spot when suddenly she is surprised by a mysterious woman. Watch how the prostitute helps the woman make her dream come true in Violet, the Courtesan.

The festival is categorised to include all faculties of digital cinema including feature films, documentaries, films shot on mobiles, digital art installations and animation and special effects, say the organisers.
