An eagerly awaited annual event for the bibliophiles, the 20th Delhi Book Fair 2014  as  well as its concurrent  event, the 16th  edition  of  Stationery and Office Automation Fair 2014  began at Pragati Maidan. 

Promoting the reading habit, the Delhi Book Fair is an ideal platform for browsing and one can find books for all age levels.  The display profile covers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, academic books besides, children’s literature, classics and other categories of publications including digital innovations. 

With view to make these fairs more convenient to the visitors, this year, ITPO has introduced mobile applications by which visitors can access details of exhibitors, products on display, location details and concurrent ancillary activities.  ITPO has also introduced online booking of the tickets  and arrangement of wheelchairs for physically challenged in association with the Help Age. Visitors entry will be allowed from  gate  no1, 7 and10. School buses carrying students will be allowed to enter from gate 1 and will go back to Bhairon Road parking.

The Book Fair has been organised by the ITPO in collaboration with the FIP from 23 to 31 August in Hall 8 to 12A at Pragati Maidan. Over 220 leading publishers and distributors are participating. Overseas participants are from China, UK and USA. 

The thematic display focuses on ‘Literature in Cinema’ featuring several books on which films have been made. 

To make the  event  more  meaningful, a number of related conferences and seminars, book discussions, Meet-the-Author and literary and painting activities for children are  also being organized during the currency of the fair. These includes: workshops on ‘Library Science’ by Ranganathan Research Centre, creative writing  activity for  University students by  Lekhika  Sangh and Kthaitar Sahitya Par Sangoshti organised by Bharatiya Jnanpith, National Conferences on Possibilities and Challenges for the Inclusion of Children with Special Needs by SR Publishers and  Interactive Discussion jointly by the United States-India Educational Foundation, American Embassy.

The  other  programmes   comprise: Kavita Path by Bharatiya Jnanpith, interactive programme on Pustakon Se Manch Par Sant by the Bachpan Society for Children’s Literature and Culture, painting competition for students of Class III, IV, V  by FIP Programme on Kavita Ke Sath Ek Sham by Indian Society of Authors, on-the-spot painting competition for children of age group between 5 to 10 years and 10 to 15 years by FIP, panel discussion on Children Literature for Environment Protection and Sustainable Development and  interactive discussion on Intellectual Property  by American Embassy, panel discussion followed by Kavi Sammelan  by Authors Guild of India and Sham-E-Ghazal - An Evening of Ghazal and Geet  by Indian Society of Authors.

As many as 39 companies are participating in the Stationery and Office Automation Fair in Hall 12A. The product profile include stationery items such as drawing boards, clip, bed tables and board easels, pencil, eraser, pen, compasses, marker, sharpener, scissors, digital pen, cutter, stapler, file, folder,  bags, awards and trophies, fine art and hobby items, colours, teaching ads, stationary, adhesive, note books, computer  accessories and handmade papers, computer  stationery, photo frame album etc.

The fair is open from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm, daily.
The tickets are priced at Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children
