Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has sealed 170 flats in Amrapali village in Indirapuram, which were constructed against the norms in connivance with GDA officers. GDA would also lodge an FIR against developers on Monday in Indirapuram police station.

'All the flats sealed, are under construction hence nobody was living inside. We did not face any resistance of public,' said D P Singh, OSD Enforcement of GDA. The sealing of the flats was completed on Saturday night. GDA had issued a notice to the developer, Ultra Home Construction Pvt Ltd, to demolish the flats for violation of norms. The developer was given one week's time to submit their reply.

According to GDA officials, the developer was given permission to construct eight towers number from A to H and areas for a convenient shop and landscaped green were clearly earmarked. But the developer had constructed two more towers – tower K and L – in Nyaya Khand-II of Indirapuram. Both the towers are 17 floors high, the K tower contains 102 flats while L has 68 flats. All the flats have been booked.

'The director of the company, Ajay Kumar, had submitted, in 2010 that company would not construct anything beyond the layout, but violated the affidavit, so we would lodge an FIR against the company in Indirapuram on Monday,' added Singh. On Saturday, GDA has suspended two engineers and a clerk deployed in the area during the construction. Departmental action has also been recommended against two engineers who were transferred from GDA. Suspension of the engineering team in charge who has since been attached to Vice Chairman's office has also been recommended to government.
