With focus on infrastructure development, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday presented its budget for Financial Year 2016-17.
Focussing on developing Ghaziabad in a planned manner, GDA Chairman Vijay Kumar Yadav said: “As Ghaziabad is a key city of NCR and is located bang next to the Capital, the need of the hour is to ensure infrastructure development. To achieve the goal, the authority is mulling to increase ‘bank land’. The board has passed a total of 35 proposals related to infrastructure development. A total of Rs 400 crore has been allocated to purchase 250-hectare land along National Highway-58 for the purpose.”
He further added: “In view of the recession in real estate, it is the right time to develop the land bank for our future mega city project along NH-58.”
The GDA proposes to generate Rs 2,056 crore in 2016-17 against estimated expenses of Rs 2,525 crore. The expected income in 2015-16 is Rs 2,162 with actual realisation of Rs 1,394 as on February, 2016.
The authority has allocated Rs 1,500 crore of various development related projects mainly flyovers, elevated corridors, FoBs, etc. To meet the electricity demand, a 220 KV power sub-station will come up in Madhuban Bapudham area as GDA will give 15,166 sqm land to the power department.
The GDA has planned to construct an over-bridge near ALT crossing at NH 58 for relief to commuters living in Raj Nagar and its adjoining areas. Additionally, the authority has earmarked Rs 250 crore for a project to extend the Metro Rail line from Noida Sector-62 to Indirapuram.
“The GDA has also signed a deal with New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) for the extension of the Metro line to Indirapuram,” Yadav told reporters after the GDA’s 145th annual board meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh’s Principal Secretary (Housing) Sadakant.
The work on the 6.6-km Noida City Centre to Noida Sector 62 Metro line is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed by 2018.
Noida will draw up the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the GDA will be spending Rs 250 crore on the project.
