During a gang war, former INLD MLA Bharat Singh and his two guards were shot at by some unknown persons in South-west Delhi’s Najafgarh area on Sunday evening. Sources claimed that Singh succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. However, senior officials have denied such reports and maintained that he has not been declared dead as yet.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 8 pm when Singh, along with his guards went to attend a function at the Najafgarh area. Some armed assailants reached the venue and opened fired on Singh. It is alleged that cross firing took place between the two parties.
“Singh was shot on his head, while his two guards who cross fired on the unknown persons also received bullet injuries,” the source said. However, the accused persons managed to escape from the crime scene.
All the injured persons were rushed to the nearby Ayushman hospital, from where they were moved to the Medanta hospital in Gurgaon. According to sources in the hospital, Singh succumbed to his injuries. However, Tajender Luthra, Joint Commissioner of Police (South-Western Range) told Millennium Post: “Singh isn’t declared dead as yet.”
Meanwhile, other sources in the police department have also confirmed that Singh is dead.
It is important to mention that Singh is the brother of municipal councillor Kishen Pahalwan, who reportedly faces several criminal cases. Due to ongoing personal rivalry, Singh was once shot at in 2012 outside his office, where he survived bullet injuries.
Sources claimed that Udayvir alias Kale is suspected to be behind the current attack. Few years ago, with the help of local goons, Kishen killed Kale’s father and brother in Sonipat during a wedding ceremony. After which, Kale hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Singh in 2012 but failed. Later, Kale along with seven other members were arrested.
“Kale is out of jail, while the other members are in Tihar. It is suspected that Kale has attacked Singh. Further investigation is underway,” said the source.
