Gang arrested for committing dacoities

A gang of five persons, including a young woman, were arrested at Garia in the southern suburbs of Kolkata on Friday for being allegedly involved in a number of dacoities and gold and cash, besides arms and ammunition were seized from the.

The five were arrested during a special drive by South 24 Parganas Police Special Protection Force following a <g data-gr-id="12">tip off</g> that they had assembled at Garia to carry out another crime, police said.

The police seized from them about 90 grams of gold, Rs 21000 in cash, a multi-utility vehicle, a motorcycle, a one <g data-gr-id="15">shotter</g> revolver, some cartridges besides a number of bombs. They were found to be residents of Tangra in Kolkata and were allegedly involved in a number of dacoities in the district, in North 24 Parganas and Howrah too, the police said.
