A Poll-bound Delhi government, eager to woo voters, has been laying foundations for various projects beginning this year, be they developmental works in unauthorised colonies or  upgradation of rural roads and hospitals.

In keeping with the trend, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated internal sewer lines in Uttam Nagar assembly segment while Delhi urban develoment and revenue minister Arvinder Singh Lovely laid down foundation stone for the underground reservoir in his Gandhi Nagar Assembly segment.

On this occasion, Lovely said that the underground water  reservoir with a capacity of 125,000 gallons will serve Azad Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Kriti Nagar colonies. It will be ready in approximately fives months’ time.

Urban development minister claimed that after the completion of the reservoir, Gandhi Nagar area will be the only one in Delhi with five underground reservoirs. The government decided to build an underground reservoir as due to high altitude the water pressure was very low with existing one.

Singh further claimed that east Delhi will soon enjoy many facilities. The monorail will be introduced soon. Metro phase-3 will make east Delhi more easily accessible.
