Fresh attacks on Manipuri youths; Juveniles and homeless men held

Two juveniles were on Monday evening apprehended in connection with the attack, according to the police. In the first incident, two Manipuri cousins, identified as Ginkhansuan Naulak (24) and Vumsuanmung Naulak (25), of Madangir area, were buying vegetables when four men on motorcycles approached them. They called them ‘Chinki’ and ‘Nepali and beat them up with wooden sticks and rods. The accused left the spot leaving the two behind bleeding. A PCR call was received at 9.45 pm and the victims were then rushed to AlIMS by the cops.
Ginkhansuan was discharged on Monday morning after getting medical aid whereas Vumsuanmung who received critical injuries and lacerations on his face was discharged in the evening with stitches on his left ear. Delhi police commissioner BS Bassi said, ‘A case has been registered and probe has been launched.’  A case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the IPC has been registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station. 

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old Manipuri student was robbed by four homeless persons in southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area on Sunday evening. All the accused have been arrested and the robbed valuables recovered, say sources. During the incident, the victim, identified as Vasomo Phong Sore, a first-year student of Delhi University, went to buy a recharge coupon for his mobile phone on his motorcycle. He was accosted by four men near Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah barely few metres from the police station. After snatching his mobile phone and Rs 400 in cash, they fled, but were nabbed within a few hours.
