Uttar Pradesh assembly was adjourned for the day on Monday after Opposition created pandemonium over law and order, communal riots and farmers problems.
The house was repeatedly adjourned by Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey due to the uproar by the opposition members and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who also holds the finance portfolio, tabled the first supplementary budget to the tune of Rs 5861.29 crores during the noisy scenes.
The question hour was suspended by the speaker and except for the government agenda nothing was taken as the opposition BSP and RLD members were in the well of the house protesting against the communal riots, bad law and order and farmers issues.
The entire opposition was on its feet as the proceedings of the house started at 1100 hrs and the main opposition BSP members trouped in the well of the House waving banners and raising anti-government slogans.
The BSP members were joined by the RLD members in the well of the house. The BSP members wearing paper caps raising anti-government slogans with demand of explanation from the government on the communal riots, law and order problems, farmers miseries, power crisis and other anti-people decisions of the government.
The BJP and the Congress members stood on their seats raising banners about the bad law and order and problems of the cane farmers.
Speaker Mr Pandey tried to persuade the members to take their seat so that the question hour could be started, but they continued to create din.
The speaker first adjourned the House for 10 minutes twice then extended it till 1220 hours. The house continued to witness noisy scenes in the post question hour session, and speaker was forced to take up the agenda even as the members were in the well. The government tabled 8 bills in the assembly on Monday which included UP Lok Sewa (reservation for scheduled caste/tribe and other backward categories) Amendment Bill 2012, UP State Universities Amendment Bill 2012, UP Cooperative Committees Amendment Bill 2012, Amendment Bill with regard to scrapping of UP Law Commission and Water Management and Regulatory Commission and UP Municipal Council Amendment Bill 2012.
