Four dalits murdered in UP after being kidnapped

Tension ran high in Moradabad after bodies of four dalits, who were kidnapped last week, were recovered from Asmauli area of adjoining Sambhal district on Wednesday morning.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Nilabh Choudhury said here that four dalit farmers Jasveer, Vijay, Manoj and Suraj were kidnapped on 30 April when they went to irrigate their mentha fields. He said police arrested two people including Anis alias Bail who revealed that all four were murdered and their bodies buried.

An illicit relationship was the reason behind the killing, police said.

Choudhury said additional police have been deployed in the victims’ village. Tension ran high in the area but the situation was under control, he claimed.

Earlier,  Bahujan Samaj Party national general secretary and leader of the opposition in the state legislative council Nasiuddin Siddique went to the village on 6 May and had distributed a financial support of Rs 50,000 each to the family of the kidnapped villagers.
