A Nigerian national was nabbed by the public when they saw him leaving a bulky bag in the parking area of New Delhi Railway Station on Thursday. The cops then detained him to know why he was dumping the bag there.
The incident was reported to the police around 10.20 am, when three taxi drivers-Sonu, Satish and Satnam-who were standing in the parking area noticed the a foreigner dumping a bag.
They immediately caught hold of him with the help of some others. The police was informed about the incident, who checked the bag but found nothing suspicious inside it.
The incident grabbed the attention of local public, as rumours spread that the bag might contain explosives. The bomb disposal squad also reached the spot to scan the bag. The team only found some documents and money inside it and the bag belonged to the Nigerain only.
‘The accused has been identified as Martin. We have taken him into custody to verify the credentials of his papers. He was not carrying his passport along, so we are trying to investigate him on this matter as well,’ said a senior police official.
