Like every year Kusumanjali Awards will give out two awards to creative works in the genres of literature comprising fiction, short story, poetry and drama. The first award be given to a writer in Hindi and the second award be given to a writer in other Indian language. The languages other than Hindi will be divided into four regions i.e. North, South, East and West. The second award will be given to a writer selected from one region.

Selection of works for awards will be only those independent works of authors that are complete in a single volume or in move volumes. This year Bengali language is chosen for the second award. Literary works published during 2009-2013(both years inclusive) will be eligible for nominations.

Nominations so received will be placed before the Advisory Committees of the two awards and the advisory committee will prepare a short list of ten titles for each award. The recommendations will be forwarded to the respective selection boards.  The selection boards will make the final selection and forward their respective recommendations to the governing board. Eminent authors and scholars are members of the advisory committees,  selection boards and the governing board.
