Lakhs of people have been affected in two Upper Assam districts bordering Arunachal Pradesh - Dhemaji and Lakhimpur - after flash floods hit the area Thursday due to incessant rainfall in Arunachal, an official said Friday. Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner M.S. Manibandhan said several rain-fed rivers, including Chamaong, Gainadi, Ziadhol, Kumotia and Lali had overflowed in the past 24 hours submerging over 90 villages in the district.

The neighbouring Lakhimpur district has also suffered due to the flash floods caused by overflowing of rivers like Ranganadi, Rangajan, Dihing, Kakpoi and Tingra. All the rivers are flowing over the danger-mark due to incessant rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh.
