Delhi Police have arrested five persons including a vehicle thief, who were involved in around 20 criminal cases including motor vehicle theft and robbery. The gang used to purchase stolen vehicles and get the chassis number. So far, they have managed to tamper the chassis number of as many as 16 luxury cars.
One of the accused, identified as Nawab Warsi (47) had also allegedly burnt alive four persons in a car in Bulandshahr in 2010, upon suspecting that they had tipped off the police about him.
Warsi mainly targeted vehicles like Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Verna, Pajero, Toyota Innova and sold them by changing or tampering with the unique engine or chassis number of the vehicle.
The other accused persons have been identified as Deepak Ghildiyal (29), Ashutosh Bhandari (22), Majid Khan (42) and Irfan (age 32 years).
