Five persons were arrested for transporting illegally mined iron ore in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, police said on Sunday. Four dumpers have been impounded.
Ore, worth over Rs 2 lakh, had been sourced from a Jharan mine at Joda which was shut down after Odisha government imposed a ban on mining operations, SDPO Bonai R Panigrahi said. The smuggled consignment was being taken to Rourkela, he said.
