Five-day internship science camp sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, was organised at the SRM University of Sonepat. It was second such programme organised in this university inaugurated by Vijaj Vardhan, additional Chief Secretary,
Department of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs, Haryana on Tuesday. More than 150 toppers of 10th boards’ exams from six Haryana districts (Panipat, Sonepat, Jind, Jhajjar, Karnal and Rohtak) participated in the camp. DK Pandey, Director Innovation, said: “This programme had been conceptualised by the DST, Govt. of India in 2008, and is being organised throughout the country. This science camp gives an opportunity to the young generation to experience the thrill of invention, innovation and discovery.”
Additional Chief Secretary, Vijaj Vardhan exhorted young students, to come out as outstanding scientists whereby adding to our nation’s progress in science and knowledge. Commenting on the ways in which parents’ should encourage their children and send them for courses that are popular in the market, he advised the students to explore and explicate science for the betterment of our country. Prof S Rajarajan, Vice Chancellor of SRM University welcomed the students and read out a message from the Chancellor, sending his best wishes for successful commencement of the programme.
