Decomposed bodies, with hands tied, of a minor girl and a youth were found near the Yamun bank in south-east Delhi late on Saturday evening. The duo had been missing for the past few days. A suicide note was recovered from the girl's house.
According to police, late on Saturday evening, a fisherman discovered the bodies while fishing near the Yamuna river in the Sarae Kale Khan area of south-east Delhi. He informed the police about the bodies.
'A team was sent at the spot and the two decomposed bodies were found to be of a boy and a girl. They were taken to the nearby All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where the post-mortem has been conducted,' the official added.
On Sunday morning, the bodies were identified as those of Inderpuri area residents in south-west district.
The girl was 16-years-old and the boy was 20-years-old. The girl went missing on 28 April and the family found a suicide note saying, 'My brother is going do die, so I am also dying.' Their family members approached the police and lodged a missing complaint.
After interrogating the girl’s family, a police official said the deceased boy was the foster brother of the girl and used to live in the same locality. But her family had doubts about their relationship and the girl had been beaten up several times by her mother because of this. Her family was not happy about their relationship.
'We are investigating the matter from all angles. On one hand there is the suicide note, and on the other, there is the fact that their bodies were found with their hands tied,’ the official said. The
bodies have been handed over to their families.
