Fire service week to be observed in city

From April 14 to April 20, a fire service week is to be observed in the national Capital. AK Sharma, director, Delhi Fire Service along with other officers of Delhi Fire Service paid homage at the martyr column at the Fire Service Management Academy, Rohini, and laid a wreath on the inaugural day of the week-long awareness activity.

The martyr column includes names of 11 gallant fire fighters of the department, who scarified their lives in various fire fighting and rescue operations. The activities for the week will include lectures and demonstrations across various locations in Delhi.

After the wreath-laying ceremony, a road show was organised. The event was flagged-off by the director. The road show included different fire service vehicles such as motor cycle first responders, Quick Response Teams (QRT), the newly included QRT on Xylo, dry chemical powder tender, etc. Around 35 vehicles of the department were included in the road show.

Director A K Sharma and a team of officers visited the office of Home Minister Rajnath Singh for pinning the fire service flag and collection of donation for Delhi Fire Service’s benevolent fund. The minister was apprised of the various activities that the Delhi Fire Service officials undertake during the Fire Service Week and the activity folder was handed over to the minister.
