On the occasion of 67th Republic Day, 21 Delhi policemen have been conferred upon with police medals out of which four officers have been rewarded with the President’s Police Medal for distinguished services.
Satyendra Garg, Spl CP/Legal Cell and Research (Now Joint Secretary, North-East, MHA), Ranvir Singh, Addl CP/Ops, Ravi Shanker, Vice Principal-II/PTC and Inspector Ramesh Kumar have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while Laxmi Narain, ACP, Inspector (Steno.)
Prem Ballabh, Sub Inspector (Exe) Ramesh Chander, W/Sub Inspector Usha Rani (Now Inspector), Head Constable (Exe) Pankaj Nanda, Head Constable (Dvr) Jagbir Singh Sajwal and Constable (Exe) Harsh Singh are among those who have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Police Medal for Gallantry has been given to Deepak Singh, Assistant Commandant and Kanwar Singh, Head Constable whereas President’s Police medal for Distinguished Service has been given to S R Roy, DIG and Bhanwar Singh, DIG.
Two officers of the CISF — Dr Anil Pandey who joined Central Industrial Security Force in 1993 as directly recruited Assistant Commandant and Girish Chandra Uniyal who joined CISF as Assistant Sub-Inspector (Ministerial) in 1979. Initially, he was posted to CISF North Zone HQrs, New Delhi and have been rewarded with the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious service.
Meanwhile, CRPF, the largest Central Armed Police Force has bagged the highest number of gallantry medals (amongst all CAPFs) on the occasion of Republic Day, 2016. CRPF is the only force to bag PPMG (President’s Police Medal for Gallantry) this year.
It has been awarded two PPMGs, posthumously. BSF is the only other Force to bag one PPMG. CRPF has also been awarded six President’s Medals for Distinguished Service and 57 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
