Fidel Castro knew Chavez was dying: Ecuador president

Update: 2013-07-31 23:47 GMT
Ecuador president Rafael Correa says Cuba’s Fidel Castro told him in December 2012 then-Venezuelan head of state Hugo Chavez would be dead within months. Chavez, 58, died 5 March after battling cancer for nearly two years. Castro ‘told us that the matter was very serious and that president Chavez’s life had only a few months left, so we had to prepare ourselves for such a heavy blow’, Correa said in a TV interview.
Correa traveled to Havana in mid-December and found Chavez looking well and in ‘very good spirits’, only to learn hours later from Castro that the Venezuelan president was terminal.
