Now when a gold medal-winner-student of Law with a doctorate degree who worked as a University educator, found her calling in the canvas and her spirit in the colours, the result was simply breathtaking. Dr Suryasnata Mohanty's work Submergence and Emergence: The Continuum of Structures and Being' – a solo show of paintings, acrylic on canvas, is presently at display in India Habitat Center, New Delhi from November 13 to 15 . The painting exhibition could be visited between 10 am to 8 pm.
The acrylic works painted using a knife and occasional brush on canvas present abstracts of lasting architectures and impressionist imageries of ancient temples that form vantage points of human realities in the magnificent narrative of existence, survival and continuities. Lots of art lovers are visiting IHC to have a small chat with the artist and see her artistic work.
On being asked how there was a shift from law to paintings, Dr Suryasnata Mohanty grins "It just happened. I was always fascinated about the huge temples in Odisha, where I grew up. In fact, I always found them speaking. Telling stories about themselves. I felt that innate urge to tell these stories on the canvas. In fact, the artistic labourers who actually built these structures deserved wider display. I just tried to bring their work to life, I am fortunate to have family and friends who always supported me,"
"The origin and continuity ties of life is a complex and magnificent narrative, which continues in cycles, a motion un-orientable. Non linearity of organic expansion, numerous vantage points that construct human reality because of cultural orientations and so alignments, merge, overlap and occasionally blur out in the paintings of Suryasnata Mohanty," said Avijna Bhattacharya, Art Curator.
