New year resolution: What's on millennials' list?

Update: 2018-12-31 14:49 GMT

With new year comes new hopes, commitments, immense excitement, a million new opportunities, and the 'traditional declaration of things we resolve to do'. We start with promises like 'I will lose weight this year', 'I will make complete use of my time', 'I will lead a healthy life', 'I will be more punctual' but end up crashing on the couch, eating french fries while watching our favourite web series on Netflix. Writing a long list of things we should be doing to become a better version of ourselves is custom, and carrying over the list to next year is our habit because we have taken the saying 'Resolutions are meant to be broken' way too seriously.

While talking about their new year plans, millennials gave us a sneak peek into the resolutions they make every year, but miserably fail to fulfill the commitment.

Soyeb Allam: Now that time has come to bid adieu to 2018, sensational discourses on new year resolutions are quite routine. Upraised adrenaline rush it may seem yet getting in shape by shedding off some extra fat will be my very first one (Cliched of course!) A steady and gradual learning curve at workplace will be second. Shopping more from local vendors than from malls will be my third. I have zillions more on the list, but it would take another year to see how many of these I actually manage to tick off.

Rubab Hassan: So happiness is vastly underrated. This year I resolve to see positives in every challenge life has to offer and find happiness in whatever comes my way.

Yuman Khan: The resolution which I fail to keep like always is that I will work for myself and the betterment of me without getting involved emotionally in relationships which I believe can defy me someday. And this year, once again I will try to work towards it.

Samra Raza: Everyone jumps on the same bandwagon, make a long list of resolutions, and throw the entire list in the dustbin. But this year, I have decided to keep it short and specific. First of all, I will vote in the upcoming election for real 'Acche Din'. Second, I will do at least three things I always wanted to, for example visiting some good historical place. And lastly, I will stick to a healthy lifestyle as I am turning 22 this year.

Areeb Uddin: Every year, I aim to achieve certain goals, one of which is to lose weight. But unlike previous years, this time I will work harder to accomplish it and that too without losing money.

Shamaila Khan: My new resolution is to remove all the negativity from my life, get rid of toxic people and lead a peaceful life. I also need to complete my bucket list which has been pending for too long now. I will read more, be a good listner, talk less and act more maturely.

Gaurav Badiyani: This year, I have decided to stop procrastinating, quantise my goals and work to achieve them. Secondly, I will work to attenuate all my bad habits. And surely, I will stop my inner geek from playing PUBG this year.

Vipul Sipani: Like every year, I set a goal of making good amount of money but always ends up with zero savings. This year my resolution is to work more and save some money by the end of 2019. Also, I will work on my physique and try to get in good shape.

Anveshi Jain: This year is a harbinger of many firsts of my long cherished dreams. My immediate resolution is to get into the best shape of my life. I intend to push and focus on my acting career, after the wonderful platform and opportunity I have got with my presence in a super successful web series. I aim to be stronger, more focused, bolder and more resolute in my choices, aspirations, and ambitions. All this, and of course an unabashed thrust to stay happy and full of life.

Heena Kapoor: Being in the business of Public Relations, I try to train new students with all the little experience and knowledge that I have. A few years back, it was extremely difficult for somebody like me to create a niche in the industry, but I don't want others to go through the same journey as mine. This year too, I plan to do the same.

Dhairya ramchandani: I will try to improve my sleep patterns, so as to start my day early on time. The basic idea is to be more punctual from this year. Also, I will try not to be lazy in preparing letters and doing paperwork (related to business), as that is the part of work I try to run away from most of the time.

Deepak Malik: Every year I make a resolution to prioritise myself but end up failing badly. I will not beg anyone to stay only to put my self-respect on stake miserably at the end. Also, this time I have made a resolution to be the happiest version of me and not let anyone make me feel bad about myself or doubt my self-worth.

Almas Raza: Like always, I have made a long list of resolutions. The first and the foremost for me is to be a good listener. Then, I will work to increase my patience level. Thirdly, I will not allow anybody to control me emotionally. And lastly, I will live every moment of this year focussing only on those people, who truly love me.
