Update: 2019-10-01 16:43 GMT

Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), which is planning to celebrate 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi from October 2 in a big way across the country, recently launched several new products which are in tune with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari launched a unique bamboo water bottle, Kacchi Ghani, mustered oil, and sanitary napkins all made in different parts of the country by Khadi Institutions

The Bamboo water bottle – with a capacity to store 700 ml to 900 ml water – is made at Agartala, Tripura. It is being seen as the perfect replacement of plastic bottles as it is natural, cost effective, attractive and extremely eco-friendly.

Similarly Kacchi Ghani mustered oil, which was a common ingredient in all kitchens some 20 years back, lost its sheen due to invasion of Double and Triple refined cooking oils by the foreign brands.

KVIC has revived this industry which is not only labour incentive but good for health as well.

The Kacchi Ghani mustered oil launched on the occasion is being supplied by a PMEGP unit established recently near Jaipur. The cost effective sanitary napkins are manufactured in Chandigarh which is also a PMEGP Unit.

MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari appreciated the efforts made by KVIC in developing new products which are eco-friendly, cost effective and good for health and environment. He hoped that this year KVIC will break its own record of single day sale of Rs 1.25 crores which happened on October 13, 2018.

KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena was also present during the launch of new products.

KVIC to celebrate 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi, for the first time has given 40% discount on Gandhi Topi and Gandhi Dhoti, and 20% discount on all village industries products which will be applicable from October 2 for 40 days.
