Speaking at the 30th annual day celebration of Kala Nidhi Division, Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, announced that Kala Nidhi Reference Library will open from April 1, 2019 for the users
The Kala Nidhi Division of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts celebrated its 30th Annual Day on Basant Panchami. Professor Yogesh K Tyagi, Vice Chancellor of the Delhi University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whereas Dr Sachchidannad Joshi Member Secretary IGNCA chaired the programme. Dr Ramesh C Gaur, Head of Kala Nidhi Division welcomed the Chief Guest and other distinguished audience and then presented a detailed account of programmes and activities undertaken by the Division.
Professor Yogesh K Tyagi inaugurated the weeklong programmes as part of the Annual Day celebrations. An exhibition based on 'Shambhu Nath Mitra photographs' – specifically depicting the Terracotta Temples in the West Bengal was also inaugurated. A book launch-cum-discussion on the book 'Bharat Ka Swaraj Aur Mahatma Gandhi' by Banwari, a talk on Digitisation of Archives by an Archivist from Sweden, a talk and panel discussion on history of dance in the presence of eminent Gurus were other among events held as part of the week-long celebration. The event will conclude with a workshop on 'Plagiarism and Copyrights' on February 15 and 16.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Yogesh K Tyagi highlighted the role of libraries and librarians in the society, particularly academic and research institutions. Professor Tyagi went on to say that after parents and teachers, it is the librarian who plays a vital role in the life of a student. Tyagi added that he was deeply impressed with innumerable activities being carried out by the Kala Nidhi Division, especially the Reference Library.
While addressing the guests of the programme, Professor Yogesh Singh talked about the importance of art and culture and stressed that students from all fields, including Technological Universities, should be taught about it.
Dr Sachchidanand Joshi announced that the library would be open round the clock.
