Honouring indomitable spirit of women achievers

NSHM Knowledge Campus hosted their biggest inter-college communication festival Y-COMM 2018. The first evening of two - day event witnessed a charming session where ten women from various fields of society were felicitated for their achievements.

Y-COMM is considered to be one of the largest media festivals where various reputed colleges and universities take part every year. This year theme is "Amar Durga". The two-day fest features some incredible performances by the students from various colleges and universities including St Xaviers University, St Xaviers College, Techno India, Shibnath Shastri College, Scottish Church College, Heritage Academy. Pailan College of Management and Technology, Future Media School, ILead and Amity University amongst others.

This year, to honor the indomitable spirits of ten different women, NSHM Knowledge Campus has conferred The NSHM award for excellence 2018 to Usha Uthup (Singer), Tanushree Shankar (Dancer and Choreographer), Chitra Sen (Actor), Bratati Bandyopadhyay (Elocutionist), Sohag Sen (Theatre Actress) and Sanjukta Ghosh (Indian vocalist) for outstanding contribution towards their respective fields. NSHM also awarded people from different walks of life for their exemplary courage and work in redefining societal norms like Pratima Poddar (Driver of Nimta, Howrah Mini Bus), Sonali Mistri (Motor Mechanic), Mala Pal (Eminent Clay Artist of Kumartuli) and Gargi Gupta (Runs an NGO for the poor and destitute).

"Y-COMM 2018, the annual communication fest hosted by the Media and Design department of NSHM Knowledge Campus provides a one of its kind platform for students of various colleges and institutes to participate in various activities in the field of communication. Through NSHM Award For Excellence, we honour people from various walks of life who inspires us as well as the students with their exemplary work, said Cecil Antony, Chief Mentor, NSHM Knowledge Campus.

Y-COMM 2018 is a testimony of budding talents showcasing their exceptional flair in various curriculums. Apart from a fashion show the other highlight of tomorrow evening is the musical programme, 'Soul of Tunes' featuring Shinjini-Tirtha-Kinjal.
