Well-known Kuchipudi exponent Meenu Thakur was invited to perform at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City, for the finale event of the International Chamber of Media Entertainment Industry (ICMEI). The event was held in collaboration with the ongoing Delhi International Arts Festival (DIAF).
The programme began with the lighting of traditional lamp by Sandeep Marwah, President, Marwah Studios, Meenu Thakur, and special international invitees. Thakur explained to the audience about the tradition of Kuchipudi dance and the meaning of the lyrics which were in the Telugu language.
She began her recital with Ganesh Stuti, a homage to Lord Ganesha. The choreography of the piece was praiseworthy. This was followed by Tarangam, a traditional Kuchipudi dance item based on the Krishna Leela Tarangini. The highlight of this item was the balancing of the dancer's feet on the rim of a brass plate. The highly appreciative audience was witness to the flawless facial expressions, hand gestures and immaculate footwork by Thakur.
Thakur was felicitated by Sandeep Marwah, who appreciated her efforts in propagating the dance form among the youth.
