Indian Cancer Society, one of the oldest health related NGO's in the country is organising an annual fund raising series 'Artistes Against Cancer' in association with Bangalore Little Theatre and THSTI. This year, a play titled 'Monsters in the dark', which is a stage adaption of Siddhartha Mukherjee's magnum opus 'The Emperor of all Maladie: A biography of cancer' will be staged on April 15, at Kamani Auditorium.

Directed by Murtuza Khetty and Deepak Mote, and written by Ravi Chari and Kavya Srinivasan, 'Monsters in the Dark' is a 90-minute adaptation, highlighting human challenges in dealing with cancer. It narrates a story of two people who have soldiered through fiercely demanding regimens to survive; people who have endured with them, and the people who have worked to increase our understanding of cancer. The presentation takes you through the history of cancer treatment and research across time with stories of frustration and energy, structure and leadership, grief and survival, hope and risk, failure and endurance, isolation and confidence. The stories, personal and clinical will be brought alive through Sidney Farber, Gordon Zubrod, and a few more.
