Banglar Mukh to celebrate International Mother Language Day

Noted singer of Pancha Kobir Gaan fame Riddhi Bandyopadhyay, Shyam Sarkar and the cultural organisation Carpe Diem will jointly present 'Banglar Mukh' – a unique cultural evening to celebrate the International Mother Language day on  February 20, 2019, at Carpe Diem (Chinu Lipi Apartments, 1/230 Naktala, Kol- 47), 4 pm onwards.

The event will showcase various performing art forms of Bengal related to our roots, like Pater gaan, Bahurupir Gaan, Baul Gaan, Chhau Dance, old theatre songs and Pancha Kobir Gaan. Interestingly the city will witness performing artists, ranging from National award-winning Kalpana Chitrakar and Nooruddin Chitrakar (Pater Gaan, Purulia) Bhaskar Mahato, Phatikchandra Mahato (Chhau dance, Medinipur), Subol Das Bairagya and Dhaneshwar Bairagya (Bahurupi, Bhirbhum), Gaur Das Baul (Baul songs, Bhirbhum), to Devajit Bandyopadhyay in old theatre songs, and Riddhi Bandyopadhyay in Pancha Kobir Gaan.

The extravaganza is directed by Riddhi Bandyopadhyay and conceptualised by Sudipta Chanda. It's an homage to those unsung heroes who are working to keep various performing art forms alive despite facing hassles in their daily life. They are the face of Bengal's cultural scene- the 'Banglar Mukh'.
