Arindam's love for Tagore

Now a household name in the world of Bengali cinema and theatre, Arindam Ganguly started his career as a child artist in Tollywood. Besides being a phenomenal actor, the artist is also a well-known singer and can sing different types of popular Bengali songs including Rabindra Sangeet and folk songs.

Arindam grew up listening to Rabindra Sangeet. His mother Anuva Ganguly, basically a folk singer, was the first student of Nirmalendu Chowdhury. Rabindrasangeet is Arindam's first love and this love for Tagore further increased after he came in contact with famous Rabindra Sangeet exponent Suchitra Mitra. Under Mitra's able guidance, Arindam could feel and understand the depth and vastness of Tagore's songs. His love for Tagore is so deep that while directing drama like Chitegur or Ekhon Tokhon, Ganguly had used Rabindrasangeet.

The artist has time and again utilised Rabindra Sangeet in various mega serials he directed like 'Neel Simana', 'Kanakanjali'. But he didn't get an opportunity to sing the songs of his soul in a proper manner, howeverthe urge was there in full swing.

But finally, on February 18, Arindam's first Rabindra Sangeet album 'Apon Bhola' will be released at Press Club. He has sung 10 Tagore songs with impeccable perfection and style. His rendition and are bound to leave a deep impact in the minds of the listeners. The album will be released by veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee whose blessings Arindam has been enjoying since his childhood. It's a bold venture by Bhabna Cassettes and Records.
