The truck driver, Narender (35), has been arrested and booked under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, said a police official.
As narrated by police, the accused had collected the material from a mixing plant of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and was heading towards a DMRC construction site at Mayur Vihar in East Delhi. The victims, Surinder and Ajay, died on the spot. They were heading towards the MCD office in east Delhi. That is where they worked, said a police official.
It was the beat constables patrolling in the area who rushed to the site and caught Narender. The post-mortem of the victims’ bodies has been conducted at the GTB hospital in north-east Delhi and the bodies have been handed over to the family, said the official.
