‘It’s a matter of a few more days before the fate of FYUP is decided,’ said NDTF leader Inder Mohan Kapahy. The NDTF president Rajkumar Bhatia along with Inder Mohan Kapahy had called on HRD minister to discuss about the future of FYUP.
Giving details about the meeting to Millennium Post, the NDTF leader said, ‘The meeting was very positive. We told the minister how Delhi University vice chancellor Dinesh Singh, in connivance with Sam Pitroda, got FYUP implemented in the university. The FYUP was the brain child of Sam Pitroda, the chairman of the Knowledge Commission, to create a market for third-class American universities.’ Delhi BJP in its manifesto for both the Vidhan Sabha and the Lok Sabha polls had promised rollback of FYUP.
Kapahy said the HRD minister was also apprised of the siphoning of funds sanctioned for developing infrastructure for OBC students to buy laptops to enthuse students towards the FYUP. Kapahy added that the HRD minister was convinced with their presentation and agreed in principle to discuss the issue with the government as well as with the visitor (President of India).
With the change in government at the centre, the controversial programme has run into rough weather. Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh, who had avoided consultation with the Delhi University Teachers Association for the past three years on the matter, finally extended an invitation to them on Monday.
