FAO assures all help to India to meet agriculture objectives

Director general of the  FAO, Jose Graziano da Silva,  told Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on the sidelines of the FAO conference in Rome on Tuesday.

Commending India’s achievements in the field of agriculture, da Silva agreed to make efforts to enhance cooperation in the field of agriculture. “The agriculture minister highlighted the measures being taken by the government to improve the conditions of farmers particularly in the field of irrigation, financial inclusion of farmers, soil health cards for farmers, etc,” a official note said.

Also, the FAO has agreed to participate and provide technical assistance in conservation and promotion of indigenous cattle breed through India's Gokul mission. 

Singh also appreciated the work done by FAO in helping countries achieve the objectives of global food security and sustainable agricultural development.

Both the sides agreed to build further on the rich history of collaboration between India and the Food and Agriculture Organisation in future.
